Miss Teen North Dakota International®
Stephanie Erickson - 4th Runner-Up
Ever since I was young I have wanted to make a difference in the world and stand out as a role model for everyone around me, both younger and older. When I was named "Miss Teen North Dakota International 2007," I knew that my hopes had just become so much more possible.
I am still amazed every day at just how far I have come with doing my best to achieve this goal. I have been so blessed to have such a strong, supportive network of family and friends throughout my life. Because of these blessings, supporting others by using my gifts seemed to be the only right thing to do. After being a big sister to fourteen foster children and experiencing first-hand the needs of a great number of people in my community, I knew that I wanted to give back to them in as many ways as possible.
As Miss Teen North Dakota International my purpose is to encourage all people to involve themselves in volunteer work. By making volunteering an activity of significance in my own life, I am able to lead not just by words, but by actions. This title has expanded my opportunities to spread my message of the benefits of volunteering.
As Miss Teen North Dakota International I will continue to volunteer on my own while also being an active member of Student Council and National Honor Society and holding the position of Vice-President in my high school's Key Club. By getting others involved in community service now, I believe that I can help them include volunteer work in their own lives for a lifetime.
As Ghandi once said, "If you want to change the world, be that change." I encourage everyone to take a step towards making the world a better place and "be that change!"
